Halloween Countdown #1 - Spooky Music

Halloween Countdown #1 - Spooky Music

With 16 days to go until Halloween 2023, it's time to get our checklist out and get ready! Whether you are throwing a Halloween bash or keeping it small with just family this year, the Halloween Countdown articles will have you feeling prepared and ready for the fun. When I break large tasks into small, bite-sized bits, I have much more fun accomplishing my to-do list. So, let's get started!

Setting the Scene:

Let's begin by 'Setting the Scene' for our Halloween fun. Yes, it's Spooky Music time! Here we can have a lot of fun doing our research! Open up YouTube, grab your headset, and get out of your chair! Some of these songs are totally dance-worthy, others will set the mood for an eerie evening. Decide whether you want a Playful Playlist, Eerie Songs to set a spooky mood, or some Good Ol' Classics! Grab your journal and start your list of favorites as you dance and sing your way through this task!

I have gathered 10 of the top Halloween songs of 2023 to get you started.

Playful Songs:

1. "Monster Mash" - Bobby (Boris) Pickett

Of course, you've heard it before. But isn't it a catchy tune? You'll be humming it for the rest of the day!

2. "This Is Halloween" - The Citizens of Halloween

It's hard to beat Jack Skellington's love for this haunted holiday.

Eerie Songs: (not for children)

3. "Bury a Friend" - Billie Eilish

This modern dark pop track is bone-chillingly perfect for setting up an eerie vibe.

4. "Haunted" - Beyonce

An eerie music video accompanies this scary-good Queen Bey must-have track.

Good Ol' Classics:

 5. "I Put a Spell On You" - Bette Midler

As the Sanderson sisters wreak havoc on a small town, Bette Midler kills with her rendition of "I Put a Spell On You."

6. "Thriller" - Michael Jackson

Must move like a zombie... This iconic hit will have your guests acting out their best zombie backup dancer moves in no time.

7. "Superstition" - Stevie Wonder

You may not be superstitious, but there is something a little unnerving about breaking mirrors or crossing paths with a black cat on Halloween. Better find some wood and knock twice.

8. "The Addams Family" Theme - Vic Mizzy

Our favorite spookiest family of all time makes the list. Your guests and you will be singing and snapping along with this memorable song.

New Favorites:

 9. "Wolves" - Selena Gomez & Marshmello

Selena Gomez starred in the Hotel Transylvania franchise and is currently in Only Murders in the Building TV series. If it's murder or monsters, she's an expert.

10. "I'm in Love with a Monster" - Fifth Harmony

Time to get funky in this funk-influenced dance hit. I dare you to stay in your seat.

To Wrap Up:

Whatever type of Halloween gathering you are planning this year, these 10 songs are meant to get you thinking and moving. Have fun putting together your Spooky Songs playlist! Even better, be sure to put them in a safe place, or write them down in your journal so you have a head start on next year's party!

Happy Spooky Music Hunting!
